It has been a season of incredible accomplishments for Extreme World Races and all those associated with us and still it continues to deliver...

Firstly, just as they did 100 years ago, the Norwegian team Framdrift won the EWR Centenary Race to the South Pole at 18.36 on the 19th January. Norwegians Erlend Gray, 28, Harvard Svidal, 35, and Mathias Seim, 23, were able to maintain a consistently impressive pace towards the finish line holding a commanding lead throughout the race and completed the race comfortably ahead of the other teams competing. They even managed a new Extreme World Races record, smashing the previous South Pole Race 2008/9 time by 1 day, 23 hours and 27 minutes.

Not only this, on the 22nd January 11.40 GMT Blue Peter Presenter and Sport Relief adventurers Helen and her teammate Nikolas made it to the South Pole. It was an emotional time for all involved with Helen exclaiming: "We made it to the South Pole and we're very happy! My body hurts in so many different places, mentally I'm exhausted and I've only washed once in the last 30 days so to be finally standing at the Pole feels incredible." However, the Sport Relief challenge still goes on to raise money for causes throughout the UK.

The Blue Peter 9 x 30min coverage on Blue Peter started on the 23rd January and will be shown every Monday at 16.30 on Blue Peter, BBC One. Make sure you catch it! If not, visit the BBC iPlayer to catch up.

EWR's top Instructor Felicity Aston has become the first woman to ski alone across Antarctica and reached Hercules Inlet after 59 days and 1744km. She said: "I cannot express how happy I am to have finally made it. I prepared for it physically and mentally for a very long time. And finally here I am having reached my final destination, having got through some severe conditions, but most importantly of all having overcome my own fear." We are all very proud of her and look forward to welcoming her home safely. Visit her blog at http://www.kasperskyonetransantarcticexpedition.com

However, all is not over...
The Race is still on for the remaining teams, Team EBB Paper, Team Mercury, Team Keep A Child Alive, Team Centrepoint and Mission Possible to get to the South Pole safely and within the deadline. Each day there are new and exciting updates on the racer's progress and daily challenges facing the competitors, as well as Ipadio diary blogs from the guys themselves from Antarctica.
