History

A true tale of endurance, motivation, heroism and tragic sacrifice was demonstrated by the fateful Amundsen and Scott expedition to the South Pole in 1911, earning Norwegian Roald Amundsen and British Captain Scott a well-deserved place in history.

Extreme World Races (EWR) has been operating since 2003, hoping to take such values of determination and pushing yourself beyond your own expectations to everyday people.

CEO, Tony Martin, previous served in the British Military as a Commando Soldier and participated in the first ever Polar Race in 2003. He returned to the UK with a passion to set up his own ultra-endurance, multi-disciplinary company. He has since organised numerous challenges in the World’s most inhospitable and punishing places.

EWR had already had numerous TV successes broadcasted to over 90 million homes worldwide, notably facilitating the BBC’s dramatic ‘On Thin Ice’ series with Ben Fogle and James Cracknell and the ‘Top Gear Polar Challenge’.  Visit our Races page for a current list of everything EWR has to offer.

Throughout the years, EWR has built up a family of extraordinary and inspirational individuals with a common interest to stretch yourself in the most inhospitable places. This community of such powerful people is what Polar Elite encapsulates; a place for people with the drive and ambition to come together and Achieve The Extraordinary.

“The limitations of life are as open as your imagination”.
