Having done the Marathon Des Sables in 2007 I'm now on a mission to see if I can survive a cold expedition. I've always preferred cold conditions and so the Mds was a massive challenge. I'm really excited about the Siberian Black Ice Race because it ticks a lot of boxes for me. I've always had a fascination with Russia, particularly Siberia, I've always wanted to do a crossing of Lake Baikal, initially by kayak in the summer and I love snow and ice. I've been to the arctic a few times cross country skiing but have never slept in a tent in ? 40 degrees. I've been competing in expedition adventure racing for the past 5 years so hopefully I'II be prepared for the long days and possible sleepless nights. Knowing that there is only 1m of ice between me and the bottom of Lake Baikal, I'm not sure I?II be sleeping much anyway!
